Statement of Bishop Thomas J. Tobin for Catholic Schools Week

Posted

The theme of this year’s Catholic Schools Week is: “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” These words remind us succinctly of the valuable contribution our Catholic Schools make to our Church and to the entire community.

And yet, we realize that the unparalleled success of our Catholic schools does not happen without the wholehearted commitment of so many wonderful people – including administrators, teachers, staff, volunteers, financial supporters, pastors, parents and students. And more often than not, these good folks see their participation in Catholic schools not just as a job, but as their vocation, a generous “labor of love” to which God has called them.

Therefore, in the name of our Lord Jesus, and on behalf of our entire Church, I extend my prayers and blessings, my appreciation and support, to all who are involved in Catholic schools in the Diocese of Providence. May God be with you as you continue to cherish and nurture the great gift and true blessing of our Catholic schools!
