Sharing a Thanksgiving dinner for families in need

On Thanksgiving Bishop Thomas J. Tobin visited Bishop Hendricken High School, which sponsored its second annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Families in Need, an event coordinated by staff member Peter Thomas. Bishop Tobin first celebrated Mass for the faculty, students, and families volunteering to serve the dinner. Father Christopher Murphy, chaplain of Bishop Hendricken, and Father Jeremy Rodrigues, the Bishop’s administrative secretary, concelebrated the Mass. In his homily, Bishop Tobin noted that giving thanks for the good things God provides should always prompt Christians to provide for the needs of others. The Bishop later offered grace and visited with the 70 area residents who were guests at the Thanksgiving dinner, which was served from noon to 2 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. Music was offered by Bishop Hendricken students. RIPTA provided special busing to ensure families had transportation to and from the school. Father Robert Marciano, pastor of St. Kevin’s Church, and Warwick Mayor Scott Avedesian were also in attendance.
