Christ, Savior and King

Posted

The Catholic Church begins its new liturgical year with the first Sunday of Advent. In this season, the faithful are continually reminded about the two comings of Christ. In remembering the incarnation and the birth at Bethlehem we are reminded that Jesus Christ comes to us, born as savior. As people who live in the resurrection of Christ, we are also reminded that in his second coming, Jesus will return to us as judge and king.

The Catholic faith is the one, true creed by which we are saved and the path offered to us by Jesus Christ when he founded the Catholic Church. There are many religions that claim to have the truth, but these are creations of man. Jesus Christ comes to us as the Word of God himself and the only way, truth and the life to guide his holy people to the glory of His Kingdom.

The beauty of the Catholic Church’s liturgical celebrations is that it invites us to prepare the way of the Lord by opening our hearts to the love and mercy of God. The season of Advent beckons us to always be prepared through the sacraments of confession and the most holy Eucharist.

May all who seek to live the Faith of Jesus Christ offer our hearts and souls, and conform our wills to His, so that one day when he returns as promised we may glorify Him with all the Saints and Angels.

Long live Christ the King!
