A YEAR WITH MARY OUR MOTHER

Bishop Tobin: 'We have so much to gain if we recapture our devotion to Mary'

On Sunday, Feb. 19, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin concelebrated Mass with Father Marek Kupka, pastor of St. Adalbert’s Church in Providence. During his pastoral visit, Bishop Tobin reminded parishioners that he has asked the Diocese of Providence to observe a very special year of devotion to the Blessed Mother — the Year with Mary Our Mother.

During his homily, delivered beneath a ceiling painted with a beautiful image of the Blessed Mother, he explained that devotion to Mary is such a special part of the Catholic faith and that she is needed in the world, community and in our own homes.

“We need Mary’s example and her intercession and assistance in our daily lives,” said Bishop Tobin. “That’s why we raise up Mary in our faith. I know that many of you already have a beautiful devotion to our Blessed Mother and I hope that continues in this special year of devotion to Mary and I hope that we find even more ways of honoring Mary in the parish and in your homes. We have so much to gain if we recapture our devotion to Mary.”
