St. Rita Parish to host Deanery Holy Hour

‘To Love and to Cherish program’ for married Catholics
WEST WARWICK — “To Love and to Cherish” program for married Catholics, offered by the Office of Life and Family, will take place at Saint Joseph Church (rectory), 854 Providence St., on Monday evenings, from February 22 through March 21, 7 - 8:30 p.m. This free program provides a peaceful group environment covering a variety of topics and discussions designed to improve the understanding about the sacrament of marriage, love, communication, and commitment. The program also addresses areas that lead to problems in marriage, while incorporating those principles that help nurture and sustain a healthy and spiritual marriage. Lenten events scheduled at St. Francis of Assisi Church
WAKEFIELD — St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., will offer the Stations of the Cross with Benediction each Friday at 7 p.m. during Lent. All are welcome. New Supplemental Food Program at St. Paul the Apostle
FOSTER — The Food Closet of St. Paul the Apostle Church, 116A Danielson Pike, will have an open enrollment for a new Commodity Supplemental Food Program on Saturday, February 27, from 10 a.m. until noon. The program is the only USDA nutrition program that provides monthly food assistance specifically targeted at low income seniors and designated to meet the unique nutritional needs of seniors by supplementing diets with a monthly package of healthy, nutritious food provided by the USDA. The eligibility requirements both income and age. Individuals age 60 and over with an income at or less than $15,301 for seniors living along in 2015. Applicants must bring proof of income, i.e., social security deposit, social security award, etc. This new program does not affect SNAP, Social Security or any other assistance that seniors may already be receiving. Knights to host Valentine Breakfast
NORTH KINGSTOWN — The Knights of Columbus will hold a Breakfast at the Council Hall, 1265 Tower Hill Road, on Sunday, Feb. 13, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. The menu will include, scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, baked beans, Belgian waffles, chocolate dipped strawberries, hot and cold cereal, orange juice, coffee and tea. ‘The Sacraments Explained’ to be offered during Adult Faith Formation Series
WARWICK — St. Gregory the Great Parish in Warwick continues its Adult Faith Formation series on Tuesday, Feb. 23 in the church hall with “The Sacraments Explained.” The session will be held from 7 - 8 p.m. Led by Brian Dutra, a St. Greg’s parishioner who has taught Religious Formation classes and is active in RCIA, this topic focuses on the seven sacraments as signs of grace and instituted by Christ to be the foundation of every Christian life. This is the third of four sessions that takes a closer look at all aspects of the Church and more fully explore the Catholic faith. Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola
WOONSOCKET — The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola will be offered at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 190 N. A Lenten Day of Retreat planned
WESTON, Mass. — A day retreat at Campion Center, will be presented on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The retreat will begin at 10:30 a.m., and end at 3 p.m. Father William C. 40th annual Sports Collector Show to benefit parish
WEST WARWICK — The St. Joseph’s Men’s Guild of Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston, will host the 40th annual Cranston Sports Collector Show at the West Valley Inn on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. More than 1,000 sports fans are expected to attend the one-day show, which will feature cards, equipment and other sports memorabilia. Fatima Hospital offering weekly diabetes management sessions
NORTH PROVIDENCE — The Diabetes Management Center at Fatima Hospital is offering two 2-hour classes that will meet weekly for a total of five weeks beginning on Wednesday, March 2 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the hospital’s auditorium and an additional session on Thursday, March 3 from 10 a.m. – noon in the rear of the cafeteria. During this 5-week session, participants will learn about such topics as nutrition, medication, exercise, blood sugar monitoring, blood glucose goals, managing illness, coping strategies, the latest research and more while gaining the support from others who share the diagnosis of diabetes. This is an accredited program, recognized by both the American Diabetes Association and RI Department of Health. The faculty is comprised of a dynamic team of nurses, pharmacists and registered dietitians, who are all certified diabetes educators.
